Is that worth it and safe use online transportation in Indonesia? And Why?

Well, personally and based on my experience it is worth it to use online transportation such as Go-Jek or Grab. It is flexible, fast, comfortable and more cheaper. In one click from your android phone or Apple the drivers will come to your front doors. Moreover, it is cheaper compare to normal taxis or ojek (motorcycle taxis).

I have experience how these online transportation helped a lot especially for tourist or backpackers. In 2017, I traveled to Bali and i don't know that online transportation have available or allowed in Bali. So, I book hotel transportation which cost me Rp.100,000 from Ngurah Rai airport in Kuta to my accommodation in Legian. The distance is pretty near from Kuta to Legian. Later on as i known the services have available, I check the price through Grab and Go-jek and it only cost around Rp.30,000. The price is so much big different.

My other experience is when my backpackers mate emergence need to gone to hospitals. It was in middle at night around 12 A.M and we didn't know which hospital suitable for her. So, we decide to order Grab Car and gone to nearby available hospital in Sunset road, Bali. Unfortunately, because one of other reason she decided to choose other hospitals which is located in Denpasar. It's quite long distance however summary all of the journey with Grab and Go-Jek only cost us not more than Rp.40,000 ($4). I did used some promotion but nevertheless, it pretty cheap and worth it especially it middle of the night.

Maybe you could tried their services especially if you are in low budget or want to saving for your next trip. However, keep alert and be careful whatever public transportation you use.

Alternative other transportation in Bali or other area, you could rent a bike for around Rp.50,000-Rp.100,000 (depends on type of motorcycle) or rent a car for around Rp.300,000-Rp.1,000,000 (depends on the car types).
